Fortnite Season 7: What Are Wraps?

The heavily hinted-at winter update has finally arrived in Fortnite as part of the just-released seventh season of Battle Royale. Like all of the previous seasons before it, players have a brand new battle pass to unlock and new items to use, as well as plenty of new map changes to check out. Epic Games has always given players plenty of different options to customize their experience and the same thing is true for season 7 as a new item called Wraps. Here's what they do and how to use them.

As detailed in the latest Update 7 blog post by Epic Games, Wraps are new items that allow players to change the style of some of their favorite weapons and items while playing Fortnite Battle Royale. So far, it appears that wraps are tied directly to the season 7 battle pass, having to be first unlocked by hitting specific tiers. Once unlocked, wraps can then be equipped from inside the player's locker alongside other unlocked items such as skins, backblings, gliders, and the other personalization items.

The post itself was, unfortunately, light on details, but thanks to the battle pass trailer, fans got a small look at how wraps actually work. Unlocked wraps allow players to cosmetically change the appearance of weapons and vehicles in the game. The trailer shows a player hopping on an ATV at which point, the unlocked wrap alters the vehicle's style and color. It works in a similar way on weapons when a player picks it up, the wrap design is applied to it. So far, Epic has shown off Durr burger, arctic camo, and a metallic style wraps.

Season 7 has a lot of new content to unpack outside of the traditional gameplay updates like new weapons, skins, and map changes. The biggest addition in Update 7 may be the Creative mode, which is available in early access right now to some Fortnite players before launching to everyone next week. Fortnite Creative gives players private access to four islands that they can build and customize in any way they want. Players have access to all sorts of building materials including  8 obstacle courses, 25 buildings from the Fortnite Battle Royale mode, and 34 galleries of tiles and props to really help create custom game modes.

Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
