Fortnite Season 7 has finally begun, and thanks to the patch notes, players now know what to expect. One of the major changes this season is the addition of the game's first aerial vehicle, which is called the X-4 Stormwing Plane. Alongside a new biome, some vaulted weapons, and some major changes, this plane may provide a serious overhaul to the way combat works in the battle royale game.

After all, with recent additions such as the Shadow Stones (now vaulted), Fortnite has been slowly favoring mobility over building options. Nevertheless, the plane is arriving to the battle island, and here's everything players need to know about it. First thing players will want to be aware of is that it can seat 5 total people-that is, namely, 4 passengers and a pilot.

Secondly, it is by all means battle-ready, as it has a mounted machine gun. However, it can overheat, so it may not be as overpowered for those on the ground as it may seem. There will also be roll buttons to execute sharp turns, though they can also be used to fly upside down or do a barrel roll. To fly upside down, players can press both roll buttons, and to do a barrel roll, double tap the two roll buttons. There are also boost and airbrake options.

Quick exits can also be made, as players will begin to skydive when exiting the X-4 Stormwing plane. This will likely be advantageous in a number of ways and will likely shake up the combat meta of Fortnite. The growing list of vaulted weapons will likely do the same, as Epic Games has seen fit to vault the Shadow Stones, Port-a-Fort, Chiller, Clinger, Double Barrel Shotgun, and Shockwave Grenade.

Of course, it doesn't seem like anything will change the game as much as the plane, but there has also been a number of significant changes for season 7. Interested players can check out the full patch notes for the battle royale mode here.

Fortnite is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
