In the lead-up to Season 7, Fortnite has been posting teaser images everywhere. The first teaser included three separate items including a fish sticks doll, a futuristic weapon, and a carton of milk. The most recent post includes a pair of glasses that seem to suggest that Superman will be making his way to Fortnite.

Of course, Fortnite's next season seems to be themed around an alien invasion, and while The Man of Steel is best known as one of Earth's greatest superheroes, he is, in fact, himself an alien—hailing from the planet Krypton. The glasses included in the teaser are more than likely a nod to the pair that Superman commonly wears while in disguise.

While the other two items in the teaser—a guitar and a futuristic-looking shotgun—are up for interpretation, everything about the glasses seems to point towards Superman. The description accompanying the teaser reads: "when placed onto the face this strange plastic device seemed to make us appear as unrecognizable." It's difficult to see this as anything but poking fun at Superman's absurdly simplistic yet effective disguise he employs while masquerading as Clark Kent.

At this point, since Fortnite has already seen skins like Batman, Aquaman, and even Harley Quinn, it's about time Superman made his appearance. While it's plausible that Superman could factor into the game as something other than a playable skin, the inclusion of these other DC characters as skins make it seem unlikely. Still, there is plenty of potential avenues to explore with Superman's inclusion in the game. He could possibly be included in a mode similar to the Infinity Gauntlet mode that saw players temporarily take on the power of Marvel villain Thanos.

In that same vein, Fortnite could begin to dig into Superman's roster of villains. With the popularity of Thanos, Darkseid—DC's equivalent—could be a welcome addition to the game. While many believed Darkseid was a lackluster villain in Justice League, the relative success of the film could mean that he would be an interesting option to keep an eye on. If not, Superman has a whole host of other villains to choose from including the ever-popular Lex Luthor, Brainiac, Doomsday, or even Bizarro. If Fortnite really wanted to bet heavily on Superman, an entire inversion of an area of the map, inspired by the backwards-living Bizarro, could be an incredibly interesting concept for players.

Fortnite is available now for Android, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
