As a battle royale and a pioneer of the genre, Fortnite has always stood out for its wide appeal thanks to a more lighthearted and cartoonish design. This has also allowed the game to crossover with a wide variety of properties, from Street Fighter to Predator, and most recentl, Rick and Morty with the addition of Rick Sanchez to the new Season 7 battle pass. Fortnite has also become somewhat known for its iconic Loot Llamas.

First introduced as a loot box mechanic in Fortnite's Save the World mode, 5 Loot Llamas appear in every battle royale match, dropped in random parts of the game's map. As opposed to Supply Drops which contain often contain an array of weapons and consumables, Llamas tend to contain a great amount of building materials and ammo, in addition to consumables. However, Fortnite's newest season has made a big change to how Llamas work.

As shown in a short clip tweeted out by Fortnite news account HYPEX, Llamas appear to be "alive" now. Previously, Llamas would remain stationary like any other Chest or Supply Drop, but HYPEX's tweet shows that Llamas now act like other wildlife in the game, running away from players while occasionally dropping loot along the way. If players manage to deal enough damage to the Llama, it will then explode.

While Llamas may be more difficult to track down now, it certainly seems that finding one may be more rewarding than ever. In addition to what looks like the normal amount of loot dropped after making a Llama explode by dealing enough damage to it, the Llama in the clip drops an impressive amount of loot when being chased down. This looks to include about 5 Shield Potions, commonly referred to as "big pots" by fans, as well as an array of ammo. It is also worth noting that if players aren't quick enough in taking down a Llama, it will up and disappear in a flash of light.

Regardless, it looks like any loot dropped by the Llama as it runs away also stays on the map, so players won't have to worry about missing out on any loot during the chase. Fans have also noticed that it seems Llamas will now drop the Exotic Chug Cannon weapon as well, which players can use to heal themselves and their teammates by firing blasts of Slurp Juice.

In addition to an upcoming crossover with Superman, Fortnite Season 7: Invasion has introduced players to a war against aliens, new high-tech IO weapons like the Pulse Rifle and Recon Scanner, as well as a completely reworked battle pass system. The new season isn't set to end until September, so players have plenty of time to hop in and enjoy all of the new changes to the game.

Fortnite is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
