With Season 5 of Fornite coming to a close soon, players are anxious to see what Epic Games is cooking up next for the game. Given its history with crossover events, there's no telling what franchises may find their way into Fortnite next season. There have been rumors circulating that a crossover with DC comics would be a part of Season 6, but this has recently been debunked.

The rumors stemmed from a planned Batman and Fornite crossover that will coincide with the release of Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point, a six-issue mini-series, that kicks off in April. Each issue will come with codes for a DC-themed Fortnite item. Unlocking all six codes will provide players with an Armored Batman Zero Outfit. Many saw this event as evidence that an entire DC crossover may be happening in Season 6. However, according to Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, this is not the case. The leaker posted the news via Twitter, attributing the discovery to another leaker, Tabor Hill.

It's hard to blame players for assuming DC would play a major role in the upcoming season. Several Marvel comics Fornite crossovers were a major part of Season 4 and beyond, so it would make sense for DC comics to also have a go. At the moment, all players can do is guess at what's coming to the game since Epic Games has yet to release information on the next Battle Pass. However, the company has confirmed that the official Season 6 start date will be March 16. Until it begins, players have a few more days to enjoy the content leading up to the conclusion of Season 5. After that comes the Zero Crisis Finale, and Epic Games promises the "most ambitious story cinematic yet" will be part of the event.

While a DC-themed crossover may not be on the menu, leakers posted Fortnite Season 6 skins that may very well be. The skins were found on ArtStation through an account belonging to Kevuru Games, a company that has worked with Epic Games in the past. According to Twitter user FortniteINTEL, there's a high probability the skins will not be part of the Battle Pass and some or all of the skins could merely be scrapped concepts. Players will just have to wait until the next season to see if the skins make it into the game.

With Season 5 coming to a close, it's a good time to finish up any remaining challenges and take advantage of its content while it remains. It's also a good time to look back and reminisce. From Star Wars to G.I. Joe, every crossover event in Season 5 brought interesting, fun new elements to the game. Players are ready to see what's next in Season 6, so Epic Games will hopefully amp things up even further to meet their expectations.

Fortnite is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
