While PUBG introduced many gamers to the battle royale genre back in 2017, Fortnite essentially popularized it just a few months later, subsequently brining Epic Games a massive amount of success thanks to unique gameplay mechanics, an appealing and inviting art style, and more. Since then, Fortnite has brought fans a wide variety of map POIs, original and crossover skins, and loads of weapons.

Of course, the game features first and third-person standard weapons like pistols, assault rifles, and shotguns, but Fortnite also made its mark with some more wacky weapons like the Boogie Bomb, the Pumpkin Launcher, and the Big Chill. Following rumors of a possible Gnome Gun, it looks like a different strange weapon may be making its way over to Fortnite in the form of the Recycler.

Over on Twitter, popular Fortnite leaker HYPEX revealed information on the new weapon, which seems to feature the shape of a face with sharp teeth. According to the leaker, the weapon will be able to suck in ammo and materials like wood, brick, and metal in order to shoot out a "Junk Bomb" at opponents. HYPEX also revealed that the in-game feed for an elimination with the Recycler weapon will read that one player "scrapped" another.

Although much of this new information comes via leaks, HYPEX also pointed out that the weapon can even be spotted for a brief moment in the new Battle Pass trailer. With Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 now under way, this upcoming Recycler weapon seems like it could certainly fit the part of the game's new Primal theme. While fans were expecting to see the Black Drum Shotgun from Fortnite's Save the World mode make it over to the battle royale in Season 6, they actually got the new Primal Shotgun weapon, though the two are fairly similar to each other. Players can hunt and scavenge for materials to make their own Makeshift, Primal, and Mechanical weapons, so it's possible that the Recycler will fall into one of those crafting categories.

In Chapter 2 Season 6, most weapons can be found in a base Makeshift form, which can then be upgraded to Primal and Mechanical versions through crafting. While Primal weapons deal much more damage, they are not as accurate as Mechanical weapons, so players may need to pick and choose how they go about upgrading the weapons in their inventory during any given Fortnite match.

Season 6 also introduced fans to another expansive new Battle Pass, this time featuring crossover skins with Lara Croft from Tomb Raider and Raven from Teen Titans. Although the new season is only a few days old now, it will certainly be interesting to see where Epic Games decides to take Fortnite in the near future.

Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
