The sun rises in the east, sets in the west, and Fortnite keeps going. Some things remain unchanged, like adding new tie-in skins, but a few important things will be changing soon.

For one thing, the Marvel Nexus crossover, the most successful one in Fortnite history, will be ending soon. There's a countdown in the menu and when it hits zero, the season is going away. Speculations on what will follow Fortnite's greatest crossover have ranged far and wide, but according to a recent leak, it will be returning to familiar territory. A leak reveals that Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 will be another Star Wars crossover, this time with The Mandalorian.

Specifically, the leak is of Season 5's battle pass. The Pass contains some distinctly Mandalorian skins and accessories, including the Mandalorian himself, some companions, and The Child (aka Baby Yoda). Choosing Star Wars/The Mandalorian to follow the Marvel crossover makes sense for a few reasons. Both are Disney properties, and Fortnite has a pretty good relationship with the Mouse. Also, there's a chance that the finale of the Marvel crossover could end in a "black hole" event, and if it resets the map, coming back to a Star Wars themed one could open up a lot of opportunities.

There's a real chance that it could tie directly into the Marvel crossover as well, in the limited lore that the crossover has. Part of the leak of the upcoming Galactus event reveals the phrase "To be continued! In Season 5!" Perhaps Galactus will rip the entire world of Fortnite into a galaxy far far away. If that's the case, the Marvel crossover might even continue into the Star Wars crossover. It might be a lot to hope for, but Fortnite is probably one of few avenues where a Marvel/Star Wars crossover would happen.

Fan response to the tweet has not been positive, however. As popular as The Mandalorian is, this does look like a choice to capitalize on a fad rather than building something solid. If so, it misses why the Marvel crossover is Fortnite's most successful one. It wasn't because Marvel was particularly popular (though it was), but because it handled the source material in an evolving and faithful way when it counted.

There has been more leaked besides the upcoming theme of course. Most noteworthy are the upcoming subscription to Fortntie and, if sources are to be believed, mod support. If that last one is true, players can make their own crossovers.

Fortnite is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
