Fortnite leaks are always some of the most exciting parts of the game. Epic Games doesn't even need to tease announcements so much as releasing a new patch and allow dataminers to slowly drop hints about what's coming next. Epic didn't even have to help with the latest Fortnite leak, however, as PlayStation apparently did it on Epic's behalf. A major rumor that's been swirling regarding Fortnite's next season may now be confirmed as a result of these leaks.

The leak in question is two images. The first is a banner image, a piece of splash art, with the Fortnite logo. The second is just a thinner version of the same art. In the image, the Fortnite battle bus can be seen floating above a giant body of water. In the background, there's a very small island with three palm trees growing out of it. There's nothing else in the image. It's just a whole lot of water.

The implication of the leak is that these leaked images are advertisements for the upcoming season of Fortnite. In other words, Fortnite, to one degree or another, will be flooded with water. Obviously, a completely flooded Fortnite map will be unplayable, so there will presumably be enough islands, boats, and debris to ensure matches remain action-packed. The watery advertisement just helps drive home that the map's been flooded.

A flooded map has been rumored for some time within the Fortnite community. Dataminers have discovered supportive evidence, including updated animations for swimming underwater, in recent patches.

Exactly what will cause the flood is one big mystery, though. The return of Rift Beacons across the Fortnite map have implied that another major disaster is in store, but not a specific disaster. There are any number of ways that water can be introduced to the equation, flooding the map. Fortnite's map is an island, after all.

Fortnite players won't have to wait long to find out what's coming in the next season. In fact, the update was supposed to arrive this past week, only for Fortnite Season 3 to be delayed. That means that Fortnite's Season 3 will arrive this next week, so long as Epic Games doesn't decide to delay it once more. Given the current state of the United States, another delay wouldn't be inappropriate.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
