Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 is in full swing. Epic Games made sweeping changes to the map with the most recent seasonal transition, flooding it entirely and leaving little in terms of recognizable terrain. But the Fortnite map isn't done changing yet. The waters are going to lower throughout Season 3, which is an exciting way to slowly reveal more and more of the new Fortnite map to players. For those who aren't interested in waiting to see what's coming, however, a new leak claims to show what Fortnite players can expect.

To the surprise of many, the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 final map isn't as dramatically changed as some might expect. In fact, there are only a few notably changed parts of the map. Otherwise, areas like Rickety Rig, Misty Meadows, Lazy Lake, Pleasant Park, and mostly everywhere else are all in the same places with the same structures. It's possible they'll be changed in smaller ways due to being flooded for so long, but maybe Epic plans to simply retain the map areas players are so familiar with.

The notably changed areas are the northwest corner of the map, where the island area has now become a sort of small waterfall area. And then there are two changed areas to the southwest of the map. South of The Fortilla is a region that has risen from the water. There's also a risen area to the south of Rickety Rig, but it's partially covered by the leaker's Twitter handle.

There are some notable leaks regarding these new areas worth mentioning. First, the upper north area has had a Point of Interest leaked sometime back. This file for this point of interest referred to it as "The_RuinsFalls." The waterfall aspect of the area should be immediately understandable, but as for what sort of ruins players will be able to discover, it's anyone's guess.

As for the southwestern areas that have risen out of the water, leakers hint that at least one of them is related to Atlantis. As Fortnite players know, an Aquaman skin was recently added to the game. It seems Atlantis is soon to follow. Not only was an Atlantis POI discovered by dataminers, but so were sound effects associated with the area.

Fortnite players still have some mysteries to look forward to, however. For example, exactly what triggers the transformation in Fortnite's map throughout the season remains to be seen. Perhaps it's just a natural ebb of the waters covering the island. Or perhaps something bigger is going to happen. Epic's sure to have some surprises in store for the rest of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
