The end of Fortnite's next season may have been delayed not long ago, but now the end is in sight: season 10 of Epic Games' battle royale game is rapidly approaching. Moreover, Epic is gearing up for the grand finale event that will wrap up Fortnite's season 10 and lead into the next season of content.

Fortnite season 10 began on this past August 1, and it has included many changes to the battle royale map and events (including the return of The Visitor) held over the last few weeks. The last season-ending Fortnite event saw the Mecha defeat Cattus in a world-shaking display--as all season finale events typically are.

A world-shaking display is exactly what players are expecting to see in six days when season 10 culminates in a mysterious event that Epic Games has begun to tease inside the game itself. In-game countdowns have begun popping up all over the Fortnite map and at Dusty Depot, confirming that the final event of season 10 will be taking place on Sunday, October 13 at 2:00 PM (EST)--which means players have a little less than a week to prepare themselves.

There's already a great deal of speculation over what this event will entail, and though the details are a mystery, the most popular rumor suggests that the event will lead to an entirely new map in season 11. Dataminers recently found a list of new locations in the game's code, and Fortnite leakers over Twitter hypothesized that some disastrous event will lead players to be sucked into the Zero Point.

From there, the theory suggests that players will be teleported into the new environment, thereby starting off the new season of content. The event runtime is supposedly three minutes long, which is quite lengthy for a cinematic. Leaks also show some objectives revolving around the current map POIs, so perhaps a temporary connection between maps will exist and give players time to complete remaining "Out of Time" missions. Either way, none of this has been confirmed by Epic Games thus far; it's all just speculation and conclusions drawn from data mining.

Ultimately, players will find out for sure what season 10's finale has in store--and if nothing else, Epic has definitively announced the arrival of bots in Fortnite. Beyond that, it's a mystery for one more week.

Fortnite is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
