The expected start of Fortnite's Season 10 is just days away and Epic Games has begun releasing teasers for the event. Three teasers have been released so far, each featuring a large neon "X," each hinting at a story scenario involving time travel. Fortnite Season 10's third teaser is of special interest, however. It teases two new skins, that appear to be new, updated versions of classic Fortnite skins.

Epic Games' post on Twitter where the teaser was initially revealed includes the brief message, "Twist Time." This message, alongside the two skins, has Fortnite players speculating about either a leap into Fortnite's future or a change in Fortnite's past that results in an alternate timeline. This "Twisted Timeline" theory is what's leading players to refer to these new skins as Twisted Skins, alternate darker versions of prior skins.

This theory holds some weight based off of the skins shown on the left side of the teaser. The skin is clearly a different version of the Drift skin, including the symbol on the skin's forehead. However, the skin is also notably different, with some players saying it has a feminine cat nose that could imply that the Twisted Drift skin will be for one of Fortnite's female characters.

The second skin is shown on the left of Fortnite's third Season 10 teaser image and is less conclusive. The skin features a flaming skull and burning eyes. It bears similarities to the popular Ragnarok skin after it's been upgraded to Tier 4, but isn't obviously the same skin. If it is a Twisted Ragnarok skin, it also could be a variant for one of Fortnite's female characters.

Alternatively, the skull skin could be an entirely different and original skin planned for release as part of Fortnite Season 10's Battle Pass. If it is indeed an original skin then it's possible that while the Drift skin is an updated variant, it's otherwise not indicative of a running theme.

fortnite season 10 teaser #3

The hype surrounding Fortnite's upcoming Season 10 launch is rapidly growing. The end of Season 9, which featured a giant robot vs. a kaiju-esque monster, was perhaps Fortnite's best in-game event yet. Then this past week's Fortnite World Cup finals and the awarding of the $3-million to 16-year-old Kyle Giersdorf has only brought the hype to another level. Whether Twisted Skins prove to be true or just another example of speculation gone awry, fans will certainly be excited no matter what comes at Season 10's expected launch on August 1.
