When it comes to the live-service, multiplayer battle royale games, few have the same staying power as Fortnite. Its constant support, crossovers, and additions to the Battle Island keep fans coming back, such as the recent crossover event with Dragon Ball Super content, but of course, some things get taken away too.

But what is taken away can always be added again, especially in a game like Fortnite. A new rumor has now indicated that the Big Battle Mode is returning, although it is coming with a few key changes.

This information comes from Fortnite account HYPEX, who is also an Epic Games Partner. Fans should take this with a grain of salt since it is not official information, but it does come from a reliable source. According to HYPEX, Big Battle Mode is returning but will no longer be 50v50. It is being reduced instead to 40v40 and is returning as a default mode with zero build, simply dubbed "Big Battle - Zero Build" in the game menu.

Fortnite's Zero Build Big Battle mode will also feature skill-based matchmaking, no respawns, and a more lethal storm to accompany shorter matches. To speed up the gameplay, players will also begin with a tactical shotgun, a burst assault riffle, and a few healing items. Nothing is mentioned as to when this will return, so it could be as soon or it could be further out. Fans will simply need to wait and see what Epic Games announces. In the meantime, of course, there's still plenty to enjoy in Fortnite.

For example, several Fortnite clips have recently gone viral for how wild they simply are. They've shown a full Fortnite squad that includes IPs fans would never expect to see side by side, and wild videos like Goku using a Grapple Glove to swing like Spider-Man and killing an enemy with a lightsaber from Star Wars. At the same time, Goku and friends aren't just using what previously existed in Fortnite.

Players are able to find capsules around Fortnite's Battle Island and pick up a Flying Nimbus item, as well as a Kamehameha attack. The latter is incredibly powerful, dealing tons of damage with an incredible range. Its biggest weakness is in close-quarters if someone can get under or behind the user, but the chaos it adds is noteworthy. It'll likely be nerfed at some point, but that could come at any time. Fortnite is constantly changing, and this crossover and the potential return of Big Battle mode is proof of that.

Fortnite is free-to-play on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
