If there’s one thing Fortnite is known for outside of its battle royale gameplay and constant updates, it’s the character skins. Every few weeks it seems like there’s always new looks available for players to deck their characters out in. Yet amid the flood of Batman and Marvel skins and other crossover-themed cosmetic items, some classic skins remain popular, and now one of the most popular skins has gotten a new variation.

Fortnite has never shied away from embracing its silly side, and for many the game achieved peak silly in Season 8 when it introduced the Peely skin, which turned characters into a partially-peeled banana man with big black beady eyes and a friendly smile. But if that’s somehow not wacky enough for some players, they now have the option to turn Peely into a robot, thanks to a new skin known as the P-1000.

If that sounds pretty random, that’s because it is, but it’s also an addition that Epic Games has been building up to for a while. Back in the cinematic introduction trailer for Season 9, Peely met a comically grim fate when Jonesy, one of Fortnite's default characters, blended him for food after the two of them got trapped in an empty bunker. This left him as nothing more than a smiling face of banana mush inside a blender jar.

This narrative thread culminated in a new teaser released this week where Jonesy, stuck “deep within enemy territory,” is left no choice but to put together “something dangerous, something powerful, something...banana scented.” In a parody of the first Iron Man movie, this dangerous something is revealed as Peely emerges from the cave Jonesy is hiding in, ready to unleash its new robotic body on the world.

This new skin is included as part of the newly-released P-1000 Challenge Pack, which is available in the Fortnite store for $14.99. It’s a bit different from the Challenge Packs that have come before it, since instead of unlocking a cosmetic reward, completing the challenges contained within rewards players with a total of 1,500 V-Bucks. That’s about the cost of the whole Pack in V-Bucks, so all in all it’s not a bad deal for players who are able to complete the challenge list.

One thing to note, though. Challenge Packs tend to not stick around forever, usually only staying in the store for about two weeks or so. Anyone eager to add a banana-powered robot to their ever-growing collection of Fortnite skins is going to have to be quick about it.

Fortnite is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
