It's been an exciting few days for Fortnite players as Epic Games once again ended Chapter 2, Season 2 with another world altering event. With everything submerged in water, Season 3 arrived earlier today with a completely altered Battle Royale map. The debut trailer showcased a land mostly submerged in water with many of the factions and NPCs dealing with the new normal.

Known as Splashdown, Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 introduces players to a whole slew of new features to help players get around in addition to the new map and seasonal content. As seen in the cinematic trailer, the character known as Meowscles has managed to hook a shark as it drags him all across the water logged map. In actuality, this is one of the new methods of transportation, not simply a stylish way to show off the new waterworld. Thankfully, it's fairly easy to do in game.

The first thing players will need to do is locate a fishing pole. These can be found pretty much anywhere near water or as random loot from chests. From there, head to any of the named locations in game that has a body of water. Loot sharks will appear near anyone in that area, so once one has been spotted, cast the fishing rod out near it and eventually it'll grab it. At this point, the player will automatically catch it and begin to waterski behind it.

At this point, players can control the shark's direction left or right and even shoot while riding. It's also worth noting that the shark can traverse small bits of land, especially if it has enough speed going into it. Eventually, it'll lose momentum and if it is not back in the water, the player will detach from it. However, the shark will make it back into the water and the player can simply repeat the process once again.

Loot sharks and a waterlogged map are not the only changes this season as players will have an abundance of new character skins to unlock as well. There are the new comers like the mech riding kitty named Kit, the master engineer named Jules, Scuba Jonesy, and more. The highlight of this season is likely the latest collaboration between Epic Games and DC Comics. Aquaman, specifically the Jason Momoa version, can be unlocked and joins an already expansive universe that includes characters like Deadpool, X-Force, Kylo Ren, Stormtroopers, Harley Quinn, Marshmallow, John Wick, and many more.

Fortnite Season 3 starts today for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
