After featuring more characters from Rick and Morty in the item shop, more Dan Harmon properties and Fortnite collaborations could be on the horizon. Throughout Fortnite's five-year tenure, there have been a significant number of pop culture crossovers with one of the most recent collaborations featuring Rick and Morty. With each passing season, the show seems to become more popular, leading to crossovers with fast-food chains and its addition to the battle pass for Chapter 2 Season 7 back in August 2021. Rick and Morty is not the only property that Harmon has popularized, however, as Community and HarmonQuest have cult followings of their own. Tapping Harmon for this Rick and Morty collaboration not only allows for more skins but should lead to more locations as well.

Dan Harmon is partially responsible for creating Rick and Morty, and has written for and produced a lot of different properties, most notably Community, HarmonQuest, and Monster House. Although each franchise takes place in different settings, they all uniquely pay homage to video games. Community has had its fair share of involvement with gaming. From Abed and Troy referencing their love for video games during an 8-bit gaming storyline in Community season 3, episode 20, "Digital Estate Planning." Monster House features an iconic arcade scene, where the GameZone bully 'Skull' steals candy from DJ and his friends. HarmonQuest, which films in live-action and animation, takes inspiration from Dungeons & Dragons, no doubt fitting right in with Fortnite's art design.

Dan Harmon's Properties Would Work Well In A Video Game Setting

Fortnite has no problem working with repeat collaborators. The John Wick Franchise, Marvel, and DC Comics have all contributed multiple characters from their catalogs to appear within Fortnite. Not only were Rick and Morty cosmetics added to the battle pass, but they also featured heavily in the promotion of Chapter 2 Season 7, which is surely a sign of Epic Games' love for the Harmon property. Hopefully, this opens up the possibility of more collaborations between Fortnite and Harmon, As recently as October 18th, 2021, Queen Summer and Mr. Meeseeks were both added as skins to the item shop. The additions don't have to end at cosmetic skins, though, as each Dan Harmon takes place in vastly different settings that could serve as in-game locations.

The majority of Harmon's properties are very video game-friendly, often taking inspiration from the genre as a whole. Community is full of references to media in pop culture, which would make additing of Troy & Abed or the entirety of Greendale's campus to the battle royale, a match made in heaven. HarmonQuest leans heavily into fantasy, and adding Fondue Zoobag to the item shop, played by Dan Harmon himself, would be a treat for sure.

The recent update of the island has included Fortnitemares, where the Monster House would make for a great addition to Greasy Grove or Grim Gables, seeing that Halloween is right around the corner. Fortnite annually provides holiday-themed locations and weapons for the island, so leaning into Monster House would've made sense around now.

Any of these Dan Harmon properties would make for a fresh set of skins for players to enjoy, seeing that there is a shared target audience. Fortnite has only gotten more popular over the years, leading to more properties collaborating with it, so partnering with Harmon again would offer a nice change of pace. Crossovers are a big part of what made Fortnite stand out, an additional Dan Harmon crossover would be ripe with possibility.

Fortnite is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
