As the game’s popularity grows, Epic Games keeps adding more content to Fortnite to keep fans engaged. Now Epic has announced the next piece of content coming to Fortnite in the form of a brand new weapon: remote explosives.

Epic announced remote explosives for Fortnite on Twitter with an image of how they will appear in the game and teasing that they can be used “from a distance.” It’s unclear at this point how far players will be able to use remote explosives, but either way, it sounds like they could be useful in setting deadly traps for unsuspecting opponents.

Epic also failed to clarify when exactly fans can expect remote explosives to actually be added to the game. As it stands, all we know is that remote explosives are “coming soon,” so hopefully Epic doesn’t make fans wait too long for further details. In the meantime, fans can check out the remote explosives in Fortnite right here:

Remote explosives sound like they could add an interesting new wrinkle to Fortnite‘s gameplay, if executed properly. Of course, there will likely be some growing pains at first as Epic attempts to balance the new weapon once it’s added to the game. For example, the developers may need to adjust its blast radius or how much damage it deals based on player feedback.

Remote explosives aren’t the only new addition coming to Fortnite. Players also have the jetpack update to look forward to, though that much anticipated new item has been delayed. Epic still hasn’t provided an exact day fans can expect the jetpack, and it’s unknown if the jetpack will make it to the game before the newly announced remote explosives or not.

It will be interesting to see how fans react to the remote explosives. If they aren’t popular, they may end up removed from the game, like we saw with smoke grenades. However, if Epic notices fans using remote explosives more than other weapons in the game, perhaps it will be inspired to make remote versions of some of the game’s other explosive weapons, like the Boogie Bomb.

Fortnite is available now in early access for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and is coming soon for iOS and Android devices.
