While Fortnite players have been trying to solve the mystery surrounding the newly appeared rifts and the mysterious castle located within, another, albeit less dramatic, surprise has been recently unearthed as well concerning the title's popular skins. Specifically, the rarest skin in the whole game has been discovered, and it's not what players expected at all, and has probably barely appeared in-game.

For the sake of clarification, when we say "rarest skin," we mean the skin which has managed to go one whole year without appearing in Fortnite's Item Shop. Bizarrely enough, this honor goes to what is considered by many fans to be a rather ugly one and is not particularly sought after at all–that is, the Recon Expert Skin.

Having originally released as a Rare skin on November 11th 2017, it was originally being sold for 1200 V-Bucks. Many players initially passed on it in favor of much more visually appealing skins like the Skull Trooper and ever popular Ghoul Trooper ones. So any OG players that actually got hold of it the first time can take some level of pride in knowing that they own what is definitively the rarest skin in the whole game.

Many Skins and other cosmetics that were only available during Fortnite's early days have since made a comeback due to the title's first anniversary occurring earlier in the year. While some OG players have expressed annoyance at this since they took pride in owning such rare commodities, others are simply happy that they're now able to get their hands on them despite joining in much later.

Of course, Fortnite's seemingly undying popularity means it's still continuing to get new updates, with the aforementioned rifts obviously heralding something to come. Not to mention, Epic Games has also stated that a new mounted turret weapon will be included in the future.
