The Fortnite Most Wanted event is live for a limited amount of time in the Battle Royale and Zero Build game modes, and while it's available, players can play the game very differently than they would usually. There's now a Heat meter on the top left corner of the screen to keep track of players' Heat levels, and it can only go up during a Fortnite match.

Players will increase their Heat meter by doing certain actions in the game, and although it'll make them more vulnerable, it also has its positive aspects; those interested in increasing it should keep reading this guide to learn more.

What Is Heat?

improving amount of heat in-game

During the Most Wanted Fortnite event, Heat is how the game tracks just how wanted a player is, and this is based on how much they've looted and battled throughout that match.

Players' Heat level will be displayed on the top left corner of the screen; it appears as four orange-outlined flames, initially, and as it increases, the flames will start being filled in with a yellow color until they're all eventually filled - once this happens, it means that the player has reached the maximum Heat level.

As soon as the player receives Heat for the first time during a match, they will automatically be considered an enemy of the Cold Blooded members and be targeted when spotted in their map locations - Faulty Splits, Brutal Bastion, and Shattered Slabs.

Players need to complete five actions in total to reach the next heat level. Each Heat level will provide additional stat bonuses to the player.

  • Heat level one: The player's map location is revealed. Opponents eliminated by the player will drop more Gold Bars.
  • Heat level two: The player's movement speed increases by 15% and they'll regenerate up to 100 Health when out of combat.
  • Heat level three: The player's movement speed increases by 20% and they'll regenerate up to 100 Health and 50 Shield when out of combat.
  • Heat level four: The player's movement speed increases by 25% and they'll regenerate up to 100 Health and 100 Shield when out of combat.

These stat boosts mixed with the right Reality Augments can truly make a player nearly unstoppable.

How To Increase Heat Level

There are various ways to increase one's Heat level during the Most Wanted Fortnite event; players can either do it by taking down enemies, looting, or spending gold bars. Here's a more detailed list of the actions that players can complete to quickly get their Heat level up:

Method

Different ways

How to do it

Combat

  • Eliminating enemy players
  • Eliminating Cold-Blooded grunts

Any enemy player or Cold Blooded grunts that the player takes down will slightly increase their Heat level.

Exploration

  • Opening vaults
  • Opening chests
  • Opening cash registers

Finding a keycard and opening a vault, finding standard, legendary, and Oathbound chests, and opening cash registers will increase the player's Heat level. Ammo boxes and ice containers, on the other hand, will not.

Gold

  • Buying Heat Levels at Cold-Blooded locations

A phone booth will spawn in Cold Blooded locations (Faulty Splits, Brutal Bastion, and Shattered Slabs); here, players can spend Gold Bars to fully go up a Heat Level. Each Heat level costs 500 Gold Bars, meaning that to go all the way from zero to maximum level, players will have to spend a total of 2,000 Gold Bars.

Fortnite is available on mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
