Fans of Fortnite Battle Royale who logged in this morning were greeted with a new weapon in the Message of the Day: the quad launcher, which reportedly fires four rockets and coats areas in a fiery destruction. As chaotic as that sounds, it's still not as chaotic as the game in first-person.

This new Fortnite weapon promises players can "quickly fire up to 4 rockets  to blanket an area with explosive damage." It's worth mentioning that there is already a quad launcher in the less-popular Save the World mode, so it's likely to work in a similar manner. Although that may be the case, the damage could easily be different.

Moreover, this weapon has been known about for quite some time, as it was datamined a while ago. Although many are lamenting its addition to Fortnite Battle Royale, many are also hoping that it doesn't go the way of the guided missile. Of course, this all remains to be seen.

fortnite adds quad launcher to battle royale

Not only is this the first weapon addition of Season 6, it's also the first weapon to be added since the suppressed Assault Rifle, which is an interesting contrast. Nevertheless, many believe this weapon will be coming in the next update, but until it goes live, we simply won't know.

After all, Epic Games could change its mind before pushing the update, or this could simply be a tease in a manner similar to the Disco Domination LTM. While fans of this popular battle royale game have a lot to look forward to this season, there's also plenty to do with the latest set of challenges (and more coming Thursday.) Until then, Ranters, good luck on the battle island.

Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A beta on Android is underway.
