News broke earlier that Epic Games was planning to add yet another unique item to Fortnite in the form of the Port-a-Fort. Now the developer has released a short trailer on Twitter that gives fans a better idea of what to expect from the Port-a-Fort when it is eventually added to Fortnite.

In the brief trailer, fans can see the Port-a-Fort in action. As its name implies, the Port-a-Fort will instantly build a fort for anyone that uses it, and it looks as though the forts will be fairly complex as well. In the trailer, we see it used as a defensive weapon by a player who is being chased by two other people. The Port-a-Fort gives the player a significant height advantage, which they then utilize to ward off their attackers.

The Port-a-Fort seems a bit gimmicky at first glance, but it's easy to see how it could improve the experience, especially for those who aren't as skilled when it comes to Fortnite's building mechanics. Being a competent and quick builder is sometimes the difference between life and death in Fortnite, so this item should give less-skilled players a better chance at earning a Victory Royale.

However, if it seems as though the Port-a-Fort is breaking the game experience for other players, then Epic Games may decide to remove it later. After all, the Fortnite development team has temporarily removed weapons and items in the past, like the Boogie Bomb and the SMG, so it will likely do the same to address any potential balancing issues the Port-a-Fort may introduce to the game.

Of course, we'll have to wait and see how the Port-a-Fort is implemented in Fortnite before we become too concerned about any potential balancing issues. Unfortunately, Epic Games has yet to reveal an exact date fans can expect to see the item added to the popular battle royale game, but more information should come sooner rather than later.

Fortnite is available now in early access on iOS mobile devices, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
