It's no major secret that Fortnite's Battle Royale mode is a huge hit with gamers around the world, with a plethora of players jumping off the Battle Bus today in order to explore all of the contents of the free-to-play release's latest map update. While Epic Games is undoubtedly pleased with the success of the game, it recently admitted a failure to give its other properties, specifically Paragon, the proper attention they deserve due to the popularity of its sandbox survival title.

In a recent statement shared on Reddit, Epic Games said that while all of the changes made to Paragon in the past were intended to help the game reach a wider audience, none of the major overhauls brought to the title have been enough for it to reach “mainstream success.” What's more is that the company said, "This, combined with the humbling success of Fortnite has caused us to question if we have a good path to grow Paragon and make it thrive."

Although Epic Games will be releasing a new update for Paragon this week and will continue working on the game for the foreseeable future, the language used throughout the post indicates that players should expect the tempo of updates for the title to slow down a bit. As it so happens, Epic Games openly admitted to shifting the majority of its attention onto Fortnite.

"Progress has been slower lately for two reasons: first, the team’s time is split between immediate improvements and longer-term efforts, so there’s less visible progress. Second, a number of Paragon team members jumped onto Fortnite to help sustain the game as it has grown far larger than anything in Epic’s past."

While Paragon's post-launch lifespan looks relatively bleak, at least Epic Games is being forthright with what's going on and engaging with the shooter/MOBA hybrid's fans to ask them what they believe would be the most beneficial path to take to grow the title's user base. Bearing this in mind, it wouldn't be surprising if Paragon eventually loses support due to Fortnite skyrocketing in popularity, but it's also important to not count the game out. After all, the industry of full of stories of big video game comebacks.

Fortnite is available now in early access on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with the game’s full release expected at some point in 2018.
