Alongside the cool winds that blew in with Fortnite season 7, players got a new winter biome and three named locations: Happy Hamlet, Frosty Flights, and Polar Peak. The latter has been contentious because it once contained the mythic melee weapon, the Infinity Blade, but Polar Peak has been a focus for other reasons as well.

Despite the winter biome just arriving, Polar Peak has been melting for some time now. This has slowly been revealing what many assume to be the Ice King's castle, and with the v7.10 update, players were able to get in and find a throne. Screenshots of the area can be seen below, but many Fortnite fans should know the area is still melting.

Much of the castle is still encased in ice, in fact, but many are speculating that the castle will be fully explorable between Christmas and New Years. This coincides with the on-going 14 days of Fortnite event, so this would make a lot of sense. However, only Epic Games is in the know concerning how this area melting will affect the game.

Of course, it seems Fortnite players will have a new castle to explore, but it is also possible that this is the primary event for season 7, much like Kevin the Cube or the season 4 comets. Since there has been a leak showing the entire Fortnite island covered in snow, this seems much likelier, as the Ice King's castle could somehow be involved with the island's makeover.

Nevertheless, until Epic Games is ready, there's little more we know concerning Polar Peak. In the meantime, players can focus on the season 7 week 3 challenges, which include searching between three ski lodges. Or players could be hard at work on the challenges associated with the 14 days of Fortnite.

Fortnite is out now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
