A couple of days ago, Epic Games officially decided to declare that Fortnite's forthcoming Playgrounds LTM will be delayed in order for the studio to repair certain issues relating to matchmaking in the multiplayer sandbox survival shooter's new Limited-Time Mode. Unfortunately, the company didn't offer an idea as to when players should expect the LTM to go live, and it seems as if Epic still has a ways to go before the feature is available.

Today, Epic Games offered an update on the status of Fortnite's Playgrounds LTM, with the developer stating that its "recent tests look promising", which should give a decent outlook to those hoping that the mode is fixed soon. However, Epic still needs to hit "some system performance goals that [it] believe[s] are required in order to relaunch the Playground LTM . . . but there are some anomalies in the data that [it] still need[s] to understand."

According to Epic, the scenarios that will be investigated and testd include “exhausting server capacity, matchmaking queue back-pressure to the LTM,” and “recovering when new capacity is added”. When it comes to further tests after that and when Playgrounds LTM will become available, though, the developer didn't offer a concrete answer just yet. Nevertheless, the team did promise to let fans know when it has anything else to share.

While the delay of Fortnite's Playgrounds LTM is most definitely frustrating for fans of the free-to-play Battle Royale portion of the game, they can at least take solace in the fact that Epic is continuing to support the title with other types of content. For instance, the studio will be adding a Drum Gun as a fresh weapon to use in combat. And with Season 4 set to end soon, it's safe to presume there's a slew of never-before-included materials on the horizon for Season 5.

Fortnite is available now for Nintendo Switch, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
