While Epic Games' hit battle royale Fortnite has made a lot of technical changes to its gameplay throughout its lifespan, none have been as drastic as the new crafting mechanic added at the start of Chapter 2 Season 6. Upon Season 6's launch, Fortnite players were subsequently thrown into an all new version of the game's massive map, with Primal-themed POI's, new wildlife, Primal Weapons, and much more.

While the new crafting mechanic has given fans the ability to use Animal Bones to turn Makeshift Weapons into Primal Weapons, which deal a lot more damage but lack in accuracy, Fortnite made sure to give players a way to use the classic weapons they know and love, reintroducing them now as Mechanical Weapons. Mechanical Parts are needed to craft these weapons, and now one player has discovered a trick to get Mechanical Parts quickly and easily.

In a new video, Fortnite YouTuber Rigid Gaming explains that by damaging cars and other vehicles, players have a chance of receiving a Mechanical Part upon each time they deal damage. While a car's "HP" will always be the same whether players damage it with a pickaxe or a gun, it looks like a slight chance of getting a Mechanical Part is rolled upon each hit, so, it seems most efficient to use a weapon like a Submachine Gun to deliver as many hits as possible for as many chances of receiving a Part.

To perform this trick, all players will need to do is to find any Submachine Gun and any truck or car. Rigid Gaming shows that when using a Submachine Gun, players are able to deal much less damage at a much quicker rate compared to using a Pickaxe. This comes out to 70 chances of receiving a Mechanical Part with a Submachine Gun compared to just 30 chances with a Pickaxe. Upon conducting a few trials of their own, Rigid Gaming found that they only typically received 1 Mechanical Part when breaking a car or truck with their Pickaxe, but always received 3 to 4 Mechanical Parts with a Submachine Gun.

This new method will of course consume quite a lot of ammo, but it could prove to be handy during early-game or when players are in a pinch and could use the extra accuracy of a Mechanical Weapon upgrade. Additionally, when performing this trick, players should be careful not to blow up the car or truck they're targeting as the blast will deal massive damage if they are too close.

A recent datamine just found that Fortnite players may soon have access to new ways to craft the Primal Flame Bow and Mechanical Shockwave Bow. The crafting mechanic has shaken up the Fortnite meta quite a bit, and it will be interesting to see what else players discover about crafting as the season continues.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
