Fortnite players are used to finding bizarre and creative things in-game, but most of them are created by the developers. One Fortnite player has challenged this trend with a stunning cyberpunk city built in the Battle Royale game's Creative mode.

Created by Redditor FiveWalnut8586, this island consists of a huge expanse of industrial urban sprawl, with a wide variety of towers reaching up toward a grey sky. Many buildings appear half-finished, lending the city the air of an ongoing construction site. It's so vast that it fades into the smog in this screenshot rather than show onlookers a definite end. If F0rtnite had a season dedicated to the cyberpunk aesthetic, this island could easily be an official environment. As is, it's easy to envision UFOs descending from the reddish haze to abduct Fortnite players.

In the comments, FiveWalnut8586 states that they built the city over the course of about 2 weeks and provides the world code: 8521-2056-8182. The city was received with a mixture of disbelief and excitement. Several users expressed a belief that the screenshot was in fact a drawing created in Blender before the world code was posted. Even afterward, users continued to post their confusion that it was possible to reach this level of detail in Fortnite. A study has shown that playing Fortnite may be beneficial to kids, but gamers may not have expected this kind of artistic opportunity to be on the table.

Several users posted questions about how FiveWalnut8586 had constructed the city and how they could go about building their own. Gamers may be able to understand where the interest is coming from--the subdued and ominous lighting over the island is pretty far from the bright colors and cartoony art style that become iconic of Fortnite. Reportedly, this grimmer atmosphere was achieved by playing around with filters in Creative Mode. Fortnite Creative Mode also still allows players to use the Infinity Gauntlet, which opens up the possibility of players using its power to shove each other off those spindly cyberpunk towers while visiting the island.

As of writing, Fortnite is already teasing an upcoming Loki skin. Marvel's take on the God of Mischief may be far more heroic fantasy than science fiction, but he still did a surprisingly good job of blending into high-tech settings throughout the films. Loki would probably be right at home in a cyberpunk-themed island like this one. Loki is set to arrive in July, so interested gamers could probably build their own cyberpunk maze in the lead-up to his release, or simply get ready to explore FiveWalnut8586's creation with a new Asgardian look.

Fortnite is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
