Fortnite reveals its latest set of legendary quest challenges, offering players large amounts of XP for completing specific tasks. One of the quests doled out this week requires players to place alien light communication devices on mountain tops.

Epic Games' enduringly popular free-to-play game is now in its third week of Season 7. Themed around an alien invasion, the latest season has introduced plenty of new content into the game, including new weapons, vehicles, POIs, and more. Fortnite just this week rolled out its 17.10 update patch, which, among other things, grants access to the giant UFO mothership hovering over the island since the beginning of the season.

How to Place Alien Light Communication Device on Mountain Tops in Fortnite

Although the description of this quest may seem pretty straightforward, knowing specifically which of the island's many mountains are designated mean the difference between a quick XP grab and a tedious trek. Basically, all potential locations can be found on each of Fortnite's snow-covered peaks.

The first device is located just east of Apres Ski Lodge, south of Misty Meadows. Head further east to the adjacent snowcapped mountain to find a second set of alien lights. Continue moving along the mountain range to discover a third device on the mountain south of Catty Corner, just in front of the weather station. The final spot is near the base camp south of Retail Row.

Similar to the placing boomboxes in Believer Beach quest this week, the alien light communication devices have twice as many valid locations as is necessary, leaving the decision ultimately up to the player's prerogative as to which ones are easiest to get to.

Several Fortnite YouTubers suggest taking on the first two mentioned: land at the ski lodge for the first location, then take the zipline which connects directly to the back of the mountain that has the second device. The zipline lets out at a cabin, which can come in handy for some quick loot, as it's pretty likely quite a few other players will be taking similar approaches.

In addition to the fresh batch of quests, Fortnite has also introduced a new Alien Parasite enemy to the island. The parasitic invaders can attach to animals and players alike, giving them a boost in mobility akin to the low gravity crystals found in Season 5. However, there's a reason they're considered "parasites," as they steadily sap health as long as they remain attached.

With the alien presence steadily growing as the season goes on, it should be interesting to see the impending conflict between the extraterrestrials and the IO. In the meantime, there's plenty of Cosmic Summer quests to do for those looking to boost their battle pass.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
