With Fortnite's Season 5 now in full swing, there's no doubt that a plethora of players are currently jumping off of the Battle Bus to find out all of the tweaks, changes, and refinements that Epic Games has brought to the overall multiplayer sandbox survival shooter experience. Of course, plenty of fans remain curious about the future of the game's fifth season, with a recent datamine of the latest update discovering a slew of new pickaxes on the way.

As seen in the image below courtesy of the Twitter account TwoEpicBuddies, Fortnite fans are going to be in store for fresh pickaxes that express Season 5's theme for the free-to-play Battle Royale release, which is "Worlds Collide." Among the various resource-gathering implements, players will likely notice how some of the pickaxes sync up with the skins that have been revealed thus far. For instance, Fortnite's latest loading screens show what appears to be a new costume aping Kratos from God of War, which is likely the skin that the bottom left Nordic axe will complement.

In addition to the fresh skins and forthcoming pickaxe variants, Fortnite's Season 5 has also included some major map changes, with a new desert biome having cropped up in Moisty Mires' spot to now make it Paradise Palms. As it so happens, alterations have also occurred to the north of the map, with Anarchy Acres to the north having become a country club-styled location called Lazy Links that caters to golf players.

Taking all of this into consideration, it's truly commendable how far Fortnite Battle Royale has come since its launch late last year, as Epic Games has managed to make what was once a simple, free-to-play PUBG competitor a global phenomenon. Certainly, the game's construction component is one of the reasons Fortnite stands out among its rivals, so it's good to see that Epic will continue to provide players with fresh ways to express themselves by way of unique pickaxe designs.

Fortnite is available now for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
