Fortnite has been teasing a new Skin for players to use while fighting, exploring, and relaxing in the popular battle royale game. Dataminers recently found the silhouette for "the original constructor" character, which the Fortnite official Twitter is now confirming to be the Constructor Penny.

Some Fortnite players may recognize Penny from the game's Save the World mode, where she is a playable Constructor character that appears as several variable sub-classes. Some fans hope that Penny's male counterpart, Kyle, will also be joining her as a Skin, which would be a nice reference for STW players. As it is, Penny is currently available for purchase in the Item Shop.

The Penny Skin is sold as a "Rare Outfit" for 1,200 in-game V-Bucks. The Fortnite Twitter recently teased Penny's arrival by tweeting a female construction worker, a hammer and wrench, and a shopping cart. The teaser's name was also "Penny Tease," so the reveal was pretty much a certainty. Still, it's cool to see what the Skin looks like and be able to buy it now, since new skins add more variety to the gameplay, and this particular one is a nice homage to Save the World.

The Penny Skin was leaked ahead of time on Twitter, and ended up being accurate, despite some users' doubts. Fortnite's dedicated datamining community is usually very quick to find leaked Skins and cosmetic items, giving players a sneak peek of what cool looks they can give their characters. Given the customization options in Fortnite, a lot of players like to express themselves in how their character looks and dresses, so the more options the merrier.

Most of the responses to the Penny Skin reveal don't have much to do with the character herself, but are in reference to the recent lawsuit Epic Games opened against Apple. The comments are filled with jokes about Epic "baiting" Apple with its V-Bucks sale in Fortnite, and Apple responding with an App Store ban that opened the door for Epic to sue the tech company. Other comments address Penny's looks, which is unsurprising given that the Skin is cosmetic and doesn't really have any in-game effect rather than looking visually appealing.

Although the current focus in the Fortnite community is the battle between Epic and Apple/Google, it's great to see more cosmetic options being continually added to the game. Players can just hope that Epic doesn't have its hands too full of lawsuits and new skins to neglect server maintenance.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
