Fortnite has introduced a whole set of new challenges for the first season of Chapter 2, which began about 40 hours after the whole game was sucked into a black hole (and it spawned a whole mess of really funny black hole Fortnite memes).

With the new chapter came a new map, new mechanics, and some new missions to familiarize players with everything new. One that's giving players a hard time is the "Search hidden O found in the Open Water Loading Screen" challenge. So where is it?

Getting the Challenge

Recently, players were charged with finding the letter F in the new Fortnite map, and now they are looking for the letter O. Over the weeks, the letters will eventually spell out Fortnite; players that get all of them will get the Season Skin. This is replacing the Battle Stars from Season 1.

Looking for the O is part of the Open Water challenges that went live on the 17th of October. To get the Open Water loading screen, players will first need to defeat eight of those challenges:

  • Land at Craggy Cliffs, Salty Springs, and Dirty Docks once
  • Hide inside Hideouts in different matches, three times
  • Search seven chests at Craggy Cliffs or Misty Meadows
  • Eliminate two opponents with a Sniper Rifle
  • Be crouched within 20m of an opponent for a total of 10 seconds
  • Deal 500 damage with Pistols to opponents
  • Search seven Ammo Boxes in a single match
  • Get an elimination from 50m or further
  • Survive 10 Storm phases
  • Deal 150 damage within 10 seconds of leaving a Hideout
  • Search hidden O found in the Open Water Loading Screen

Once eight are completed, the Open Water loading screen will become available. Zooming in on the beach house in the loading screen will give players a big hint. If this beach looks familiar, players may have come across it while trying to find 10 Fortnite landmarks for the world challenge.

The red arrow is pointing to the location of the hidden letter:

For anyone not quite familiar with the new map yet, this beach house is in Craggy Cliffs along the waterline (while players are there, they can learn how to swim too or perhaps how to fish in Fortnite). Look under the porch to find the O. Players can either float down and get between the deck and the rocks under the house, or they can destroy the checkered flooring next to the deck to get down under it. Either way, the O will be waiting against the back wall of rock. If players haven't unlocked the Open Water loading screen yet, the O will not appear until they do.

Still can't find it? Here's a video that shows players how to sail into the right spot:
