After a short delay, Playground was added to Fortnite, giving players full access to the island without having to worry about getting wiped out by an Omega skin a few minutes after landing. Playground also offers the perfect opportunity to practice building, which one group of creative players took to the extreme by erecting a near-perfect recreation of Nuketown from Call of Duty.

The Playground LTM accommodates building by giving the player a greatly increased spawn rate of materials. Naturally, it didn't take long after Playground's release for YouTube to become flooded with wild creations, with some even choosing to rebuild areas of the map that were destroyed by the meteor at the end of Season 3.

The recreation of Nuketown, which can be seen in the video below, is made entirely out of wood and is about as faithful to the fan-favorite Black Ops map as Fortnite would allow. Replacing Nuketown's iconic backdrop is Wailing Woods - but since the proportions are pretty spot-on, anyone who is familiar with Nuketown will recognize the buildings instantly.

The four players responsible don't just stop at building the map; they go on to stage their own 2v2 deathmatch, killing each other without building to keep it "boots on the ground." This is made possible by Playground's fast respawns, allowing the players to simply drop back down into the action after getting killed.

Videos like this one show just how good of an idea Playground was for Epic Games. Not only does the LTM give new players (of which there will be many, thanks to the recent Switch port) a way to get to grips with the game in a safe environment, but it also enables impressive creations that will continue to make headlines and keep the game relevant.

This certainly won't be the last video like this we'll see from the Playground LTM - it likely won't even be the last Call of Duty map recreation. Between this new mode, and the current live events that are taking place as Season 5 approaches, Epic is continuing to set the industry standard on games as a live service.

Fortnite Battle Royale is free to play now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Mobile.
