Fortnite has quickly become a worldwide phenomenon, boasting record sales on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since its Early Access release just under a year ago. The only platform not currently in on the party is Nintendo's massively popular Switch. However, a slew of recent leaks and rumors suggest Fortnite is on its way to the hybrid console portable. In fact, if a datamined eShop listing is to be believed, that day could be as early as tomorrow.

The Twitter account of dataminer Simon Aarons posted a screenshot of a Nintendo Switch eShop listing, which has Fortnite on Switch releasing June 12, 2018. Other details include a US region code and a 2044MB file size, which may seem a tad small when compared to PS4 and Xbox One. The relatively small file size may suggest compromises made to the game in order to ensure consistent performance on the lighter, more portable Switch. On that note, the listing also confirms the availability of Add-on Content as well as the Wingman Starter Pack.

One possibility is that due to performance limitations, the Fortnite that releases on Switch may be more similar to the mobile version that released on iOS back in March. Perhaps wisely, the iOS version focuses squarely on the feature that draws the biggest crowd, Battle Royale, unlike the more fleshed-out version that's available on console and PC. To that end, whether or not the Save the World mode, which can be played solo or co-op online, will be an available purchase on Nintendo Switch. It also remains to be seen exactly what updates will be included in the Switch port.

Fortnite's release on Nintendo Switch hasn't exactly been a well-kept secret. Rumors began to circulate about a potential Switch port in recent weeks, initially when a leaked job listing suggested significant developments were already underway.

Subsequently, credible leaks began to appear that supported the early rumors, and before long Fortnite on Nintendo Switch became a near-guarantee. Just last week, an eagle-eyed Twitter user by the name of "SciresM" spotted Fortnite listed by name in a recent Switch eShop update, confirming its eventual release. Today, it seems the port had one more trick up its sleeve, which is its shockingly early June 12 release date.

Fortnite Early Access is available now for PC, Xbox One, PS4, and iOS mobile devices.
