When Epic Games released Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch, many were over the moon. The release would allow players on the console to try to get Victory Royales at home on a large screen before taking the action out with them on the go. In fact, people were so excited, that the Switch version of the game was downloaded more than two million times in 24 hours.

Some months after release and Nintendo is now looking to capitalize on the success of of the game Switch by releasing a Fortnite Nintendo Switch bundle. Going on sale on October 5, 2018, the Nintendo Switch Fortnite Double Helix bundle includes 1,000 V-Bucks (the currency used to buy new cosmetics and the Battle Pass) as well as the Double Helix cosmetic pack.

The Double Helix cosmetic pack includes a "unique" set of items for the player character. There is a black, white and red character skin, along with a matching piece of back bling, a glider, and a pickaxe. It's unclear if the cosmetics will ever be available to players on other platforms. However, this isn't the first time that Epic Games has released platform-exclusive cosmetics for the game, most recently with the Galaxy skin being exclusive to Samsung devices.

Nintendo is already aiming to sell 20 million Switch units this year. The strength of upcoming exclusives such as Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Super Mario Party should be more than enough to help the company reach that figure. They are massively popular brand names and longstanding fans are hugely excited to play them.

But with the Nintendo Switch Fortnite Double Helix bundle, Nintendo could potentially sell above and beyond its sales target. Fortnite is played by over 125 million people including children. As such, the bundle gives the youngsters even more of a reason to consider the Nintendo Switch and to buy it as their very first games console.

Indeed, lots of the replies and quotes of Nintendo's tweet announcing the bundle say as much. Many are convinced that the popularity of Fortnite and the interest in (what appears to be) an exclusive skin will help this Switch bundle sell gangbusters. It remains to be seen if that will be the case, but many will be watching this story closely once October 5 rolls around.

Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and iOS devices. A beta is currently taking place on Android devices.
