[UPDATE: Samsung has clarified that Blevins misspoke when talking about a new map at the event. Instead, the Samsung Fortnite event will feature a new Creative Island]

As many know, Fortnite is an ever-evolving adventure in the battle royale genre that frequently changes up the experience by adding new weapons, items, features, and more. One thing that has remained consistent, however, is the inclusion of only one map. This map has changed from season to season, but its has been the only map players can experience.

According to popular Fortnite streamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, though, this could very well be changing soon. It's worth highlighting that the details are somewhat hazy, so it should be taken with a grain of salt until something more solid is confirmed.

On March 16, Samsung will be hosting an event featuring the new Galaxy S10 phone, and Ninja will be there playing Fortnite alongside a member of the South Korean boy band, iKON. As part of this event, Ninja reports that there will be a brand new Fortnite map "literally built for this event."

Ninja goes on to state that others can be involved by attending, competing, or watching the event. Ninja's phrasing might suggest that this is a new map for Fortnite's battle royale mode, presumably one that would become available to the public sometime after the Samsung Ninja x iKON event is over, but it is possible that it's something else entirely.

It could be something related to the creative mode, or Epic Games may have may something brand new to help promote this event. If there is a second map/battle island revealed at this event, this would make Fortnite one of few prominent BR games currently on the market to feature more than one map. That said, competitor Apex Legends has recently discussed adding more maps in the future.

It will be interesting to see how Fortnite continues to evolve in the growing battle royale field, and the addition of a new map could just be the next step. The wildly popular battle royale game has recently added a ping system, and a respawn mechanic has also been leaked, so a new map to stay on top of the competition doesn't seem to be too far of a stretch.

Fortnite is out now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
