When the lightning began to fall in Fortnite, speculation began to run rampant. Some believed this lightning was a herald for a Thor LTM, whereas others believed it was a promotion for Save the World going free-to-play. Ultimately, while we still don't know what it means, this lightning summoned forth a mysterious purple cube.

Now, this cube has begun to move. As seen in the video below, this latest Fortnite mystery keeps getting deeper, with no official word from Epic Games what any of it means. Nevertheless, speculation has continued to grow alongside the hype for the coming season 6 of the battle royale title.

When players are killed by the cube, the chat seemingly reveals an arrow pointing NW, which has led to speculation that it is heading to Salty Springs. While the popular dinosaur theory has resurfaced, others also believe the mystery cube is set to destroy something or undo changes made by rifts. Check out the cube moving below:

Considering this cube follows the return of Tomato Head and the establishment of Tomato Temple, this mystery cube could potentially be related. Since the theme of season 5 is "worlds collide," it could also serve as a harbinger for a new time period. However, until the cube actually does something, no one knows and Epic Games isn't likely to spill the beans either.

In the meantime, Fortnite lovers only have a few more weeks left in the season. Those who have fallen behind on challenges or finding hidden battle stars may want to shore these up quickly. For those who are just not catching up on challenges, here's where to find all season 5 battle star locations. Hopefully, players discover the purpose of this cube sooner rather than later, but it certainly doesn't hurt to be prepared for whatever comes.

Fortnite is out now in early access for iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
