Fortnite Monopoly Board Revealed

There's no doubt that the wildly successful multiplayer sandbox survival release Fortnite is one of, if not the most popular game on the planet right now, with its prosperity having actually boosted Epic Games' worth to a whopping $8 billion. Now, it looks as if the developer is intent to increase the game's visibility even more so than before, as Epic has partnered up with the world's leading toy manufacturer Hasbro to create a Monopoly version of the title.

According to Hasbro, Fortnite Monopoly will be available at most major retailers globally starting on October 1, 2018, and it will apparently bring "a battle-building twist to the iconic fast-dealing property-trading game." Such tweaks include money being replaced with health points, and every property on the board will be a location found in Fortnite's map. Speaking of the board's design, those interested in getting a gander at how Fortnite Monopoly will look upon release would do well to check out the images below.

What's more is that instead of both dice being used for movement in Fortnite Monopoly, one will be used for "action," which puts players in the position to decide whether or not to move or take an action first on every turn. For example, actions will include using Bandages for health recovery, shooting opponents with Cross Hairs, protecting oneself with a Wall, and taking a life away from all players with a Boogie Bomb.

Interestingly enough, Fortnite Monopoly has even gone the extra mile to change up the original board game's design to include the constant pressure of the Storm threatening each and every player's well being. In order to do this, certain spaces on the board have been taken up by the Storm, and when landed on, it claims two lives from players.

Taking all of this into consideration, while Fortnite Monopoly may sound odd to some, this is far from the first instance of a popular video game having its likeness transposed into a version of the property-trading game. As it so happens, The Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, and even Skyrim have been used as themes for Monopoly boards, so it's safe to presume that the practice will continue well into the future.

Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, while Fortnite Monopoly releases on October 1, 2018.
