Back in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2, the spy theme brought with it a new character named Midas, who could arguably be considered the poster boy of that season considering his significance and role within the story. But when Season 3 kicked off with the map being flooded, Midas was believed to be gone for good, seemingly having been eaten by a shark.

However, it appears that Epic Games isn't done with Midas yet. It's already known that a new Midas skin dubbed Midas Rex will be coming to the game when the upcoming Last Laugh bundle releases in November (which also includes cosmetics for Batman villains Joker and Poison Ivy). But it's suspected that he may make a return sooner than initially thought.

Recently, Fortnite received a new update, but fans quickly realized that the patch notes didn't explain all of the new changes, chief among them being that Galactus has now appeared and can be seen very faintly in the distance, heralding his imminent arrival.

Another, very minor addition can be found in the Authority point of interest, namely Midas' golden chair. While it's not inherently indicative of anything, the fact that it's such a minor detail does suggest that Epic is planning something related to Midas for the future.

One theory is that Midas could make his return as part of the upcoming Fortnitemares Halloween update. While there have been some content leaks regarding the Halloween update, primarily new skins, there hasn't been anything so far related to Midas, but that doesn't necessarily rule out the possibility. Perhaps he'll come back as a zombie after being eaten by that shark? Or maybe he simply survived but will attempt to pass it off as him being resurrected?

This wasn't the only thing the new update added. It's been reported that a new Mythic Ability (equippables based on Marvel characters' superpowers) can be found in the game. Specifically, it's called Kinetic Armor, based on Black Panther, which can absorb damage and let a player run faster and deal extra damage. It reportedly can be found in the Stark Industries Supply Drones scattered across the map. A Black Panther skin still has yet to be released.

The Superstore near Holly Hedges as also been slightly altered. It's nothing major but it has now been renamed the Hey Boo Megastore and has a new, ghostly logo, obviously to further foreshadow the Halloween update.

Fortnite is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
