Fortnite has had a love affair with superheroes for quite some time, beginning with Fortnite's superhero-themed Season 4 in Chapter 1 back in 2018. With the booming success of the battle royale, Epic Games was able to strike deals with Marvel, DC, and more. And now one of Fortnite's relationships has gone a step further, as a Marvel crossover apparel line is available now.

The relationship between Marvel and Fortnite began in 2018, with an ambitious Avengers mode in the battle royale. Fast forward that relationship to 2020, and Season 4 of Chapter 2 is entirely Marvel themed, with challenges, unlocks, and content all Marvel superhero related.

Many fans of pop culture will jump at the opportunity to purchase apparel of their favorite entities, and superhero gear is high on that list. Fortnite and Marvel have teamed up to take advantage of their relationship and the love of gaming and superhero gear by selling limited-time hoodies, t-shirts, and more with the Marvel and Fortnite theme.

At first glance, the Fortnite aspect of the crossover apparel is hard to even notice, as it is clear that the superheroes are taking front and center. One hoodie has Iron Man/Tony Stark right smack dab in the middle of the design, and small Fortnite items such as the now-iconic llama are seen floating around in the background. Another piece of gear has the Silver Surfer dashing through space, with classic Fortnite skins such as Cuddle Team Leader and Meowscles barely hanging on to the surfboard.

Fortnite as a cultural phenomenon has died down a bit since its apex in 2018, but that doesn't mean it still isn't extremely popular and played by millions. This partnership with Marvel is likely mutually beneficial. The crossover has extended beyond in-game Fortnite and shirts as well, as recently players could receive bonus Fortnite content for playing the Marvel's Avengers beta.

Although Epic Games has teamed up with DC for Batman and Aquaman based content, the relationship with Marvel has gotten stronger and stronger over time. So much so, that some fans wonder if Fortnite has become canon in the Marvel Universe. It is unlikely that Jonesey will make an appearance as the newest member of the Avengers in the cinematic universe any time soon, but just a few years ago, not many would have predicted a shirt featuring Groot on a tree pointing at a battle bus in the sky with Bushranger from Fortnite by his side either.

Fortnite is available now on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
