Chapter 2 Season 5 of Fortnite has brought a ton of new features to the game, from map changes, to the overall bounty hunter theme, but this season also introduced a huge new crossover with The Mandalorian. The Season 5 battle pass gave players instant access to the Mandalorian skin, as well as the chance to unlock a Mandalorian-themed spray, banner icon, wallpaper, emoticons, a Razor Crest glider, and most notably, an in-game pet based on The Child.
In addition to this, Chapter 2 Season 5 also introduces a crash-landed Razor Crest as a POI on Fortnite's map, which gives players the chance to take on the Mandalorian himself to obtain his jetpack and Amban sniper rifle. And although the game is already ripe with content from The Mandalorian, it seems that more could be on the way.
Following leaks that a change could come to the Razor Crest POI, Fortnite leaker TwitchTilted posted a video of themselves using a leaked Mandalorian-themed pickaxe. The pickaxe appears to be based on the Mandalorian's Amban sniper rifle, which is already obtainable in the game as a weapon.
For the time being, it is unclear whether this Mandalorian-themed pickaxe will be officially released in Fortnite or if it is just a placeholder at the moment. Either way, it seems that dataminers are able to use it in the game, so it is functional, which may point to an eventual release. Over on Reddit, some users expressed mixed feelings, explaining that while they are happy that the Mandalorian skin may finally get a dedicated pickaxe, they would have liked to see it be the character's Beskar spear or even the Darksaber. While nothing is confirmed, it does seem like many are leaning towards this being a placeholder for the Mandalorian's pickaxe, as it would be rather strange to have the Amban sniper rifle as both an obtainable weapon and a pickaxe in Fortnite.
Upon the Mandalorian's inclusion in the battle royale game, many found it strange that Season 5 also gave the Star Wars character a dedicated back bling, glider, and Beskar-themed style options, but not his own pickaxe. Regardless of what kind of pickaxe is released for the bounty hunter, fans are clamoring for one either way, as it would finally complete the Mandalorian set.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 is now well into its 6th week, but fans still have plenty of time to grind out their Battle Pass. And in the meantime, they can rest assured that more surprises will come their way as usual.
