Over the past few seasons, Fortnite has proven itself to be a mecca for unexpected crossovers and collaborations. From an entire Marvel-themed season to God of War's Kratos, to the current season's Battle Pass featuring Rick of Rick and Morty, the battle royale has become well-established as a video game hub for other brands and IP. One of the game's latest additions, however, is unexpected, even for Fortnite - a map based on M. Night Shyamalan's new horror film, Old.

The famed The Sixth Sense and Glass director's 2021 film marks his return to the horror genre he became a household name for. M. Night Shyamalan's Old centers around a family vacationing on an exotic beach. Before long, however, they realize something is causing them to age rapidly, putting them in jeopardy of aging to death over the course of only a single day.

Fortnite quietly posted the news of the new map in Creative Mode on its official website, with the game's social channels seemingly yet to promote it for unknown reasons. While the inspired map's exact gameplay mechanics aren't laid out in the post, it does say that players will need to gather resources, craft tools, discover clues, and beat the 30-minute clock in order to survive on the new island.

The new map can either be experienced solo or with up to six players in total. Players looking to drop into the new map can do so by first opening Fortnite and selecting Creative Mode, and then select Island Code and entering 0761-4089-5654.

Alternatively, players can just go to any featured island in the Welcome Hub and enter the code from there, where the Old map will show up after a short load time. Although it hasn't been confirmed, the description of the Old map looks to be similar to Fortnite's Impossible Escape LTM.

Introduced midway through the "Primal" Season 6, Impossible Escape had players tracking down each other to team up as well as locate missing helicopter parts under the threat of rampant enemy AI. While there will likely be significant differences between Impossible Escape and the Old map, the basic premise sounds pretty similar.

It should be noted that the map technically isn't made by Epic Games, but rather prominent Fortnite creative group TeamUnite. While the crossover between a fairly cartoony battle royale and an R-rated body horror film seems like an unorthodox pairing, Fortnite continues to loop in content from surprising places.

Last week, the game added the Ferrari 296 GTB as its latest vehicle, shocking fans everywhere. With two of the more recent crossovers bringing "real-life" content outside of comics and video games, it seems Fortnite is as prominent a piece of culture as ever.

Fortnite is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
