Fans of Fortnite’s hit limited-time mode(LTM) The Getaway have something to be excited about, according to new information discovered by a well-known data miner.

Limited-time game modes have been a popular feature in Fortnite. The rotating list of modes make matches new and exciting by changing the rules or giving players new objectives to win. Fan-favorite LTM have included modes such as The Floor is Lava and 50 vs. 50.

One of the most popular is The Getaway, where players must acquire one of four jewels and escape via a floating getaway van before getting blown to bits by rival players. Fortnite's The Getaway was first introduced in 2018, but looks to be making a return.

Fortnite data miner VastBlast said on Twitter that The Getaway is one of five LTMs that have been “hot fixed” to Fortnite’s servers. It is not clear exactly when the LTM will be made available to players, but VastBlast noted that the LTMs in his post would release in chronological order. The Getaway is at the end of the list, meaning it will be the last LTM available to play if VastBlast is correct. In order, the other LTMS include: Knockout: Shuffle, Knockout: Air Raid, Rags to Riches and Tank Battle.

According to VastBlast’s tweet, The Getaway will return with squad and duo team sizes. It is not clear what challenges and rewards the mode will offer, if any, but Epic Games will likely elaborate further if it officially announces the LTM’s return.

In The Getaway, players must locate one of four special supply crates that contain a jewel. The four crates, which take longer to open than standard drops, are located at all times on the map. Once in possession of a jewel, players have to make their way to one of four escape vans. To make things interesting, players who have acquired a jewel are slowed down and become visible on the map for 30 seconds to everyone.

The Getaway is a fun and intense game mode that fans have long been asking to make a return, so it makes sense that Epic Games would bring it back. The developer could potentially update the game mode with new features, such as drivable cars, which could replace the previous floating vans as a means to escape.

VastBlast has also proven dependable in the past, as they successfully leaked that Fortnite would get a Captain America skin back in June, so while it is not officially confirmed, fans will likely get play The Getaway within the next few weeks.

Fortnite is available on IOS, Android, PC, Switch, Xbox One and PS4, with Xbox Series X and PS5 versions currently in development.
