Fortnite Season 2 Chapter 2 has brought about some big changes. Epic has added numerous weapons, including some new legendary weapons as well as the brand new mythic weapons to Fortnite. The most difficult of these new weapons to find is the legendary gold hunting rifle.

Hunting Rifle in Fortnite

While most of the new mythics are dropped by mini-bosses and the new legendaries like the SMG are available in vaults, the gold hunting rifle is not found in either of these locations. But it's worth looking for since the stats on this rifle are amazing. According to the player who found the hunting rifle first, a YouTuber named Nourished, this rifle hits with 100 damage to the body and 250 for headshots. That's quite the powerhouse.

Where to Find It

It is so rare for players to find the gold hunting rifle that many originally thought it was just another Fortnite rumor. However, enough players have found it in the game and posted videos of it on YouTube.

Since it can't be found in the Chapter 2 Season 2 vault locations, players will have to look elsewhere on the map. Although all of the other legendaries and mythics have set locations, the gold hunting rifle just shows up in a random chest somewhere on the map. Unfortunately, no one has seen a pattern in how the rifle spawns, since it appears in-game so rarely.

The best way to farm for the new gold hunting rifle is just to play the game. While running across the map and checking out all the new map changes for Chapter 2 Season 2, players should pick up as many treasure chests along the way as possible. It may make the hunting rifle hard to find, but it makes all that much sweeter when players come across it in a match and can blow away the competition.

If players are looking for a more guaranteed way to grab a great gun, they may want to aim for the mythics that drop from mini-bosses in the secret lairs around the game, or they can aim for one of the other Legendaries, like the Heavy Sniper Rifle, that has a guaranteed drop location.

Fortnite is free-to-play on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
