While Fortnite continues to see unprecedented success as a live service game, part of that popularity comes from the various crossover events that Epic Games has managed to create for players. Not only has this included major virtual concerts with recording artists like Travis Scott, but also in-game events with huge franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, The Walking Dead, and many more. Having all these franchises under one roof gives the game a serious toy box vibe.

While Epic Games managed to craft a major Marvel crossover event that also spanned comic books last season, the company has really upped the ante for Chapter 2 Season 5. The season began with the arrival of The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda, though things have expanded quickly to include surprising additions like The Terminator, Predator, Kratos from Sony's God of War franchise, as well as Master Chief from Halo. However, Epic Games doesn't appear to be satisfied to stop there as dataminers have managed to discover another big crossover event coming soon.

The latest datamined information comes from prominent Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR. The user discovered new audio that is apparently planned for use in a new Skirmish Portal acting as a teaser for the new content. Based on the image associated with the portal, Capcom fans will likely recognize the iconic castle from Ryu's Street Fighter 2 stage. In addition, the music is very clearly playing a distorted version of Ryu's Theme.

With these details, the latest hunter to join Season 5 appears to be from the Street Fighter series. However, Shiina also discovered evidence that the upcoming crossover is getting both a male and female character, heavily implying Ryu and Chun-Li considering they're arguably the most well known and recognizable characters from the series. If this ultimately turns out to be true, Ryu and Chun-Li will be joining the likes of Master Chief and Kratos inside of Fortnite's Gaming Legends series.

So far, Sony, Microsoft, and now Capcom appear to be represented inside of the popular third person shooter. To this point, Nintendo remains curiously absent from any leaks, traditionally seen as the final member of the big three gaming hardware giants. Theories and speculation have been running wild online as to who could potentially represent Nintendo, a company with a sizable stable of iconic IPs it could pull from. So far, the majority seems to have landed on Samus Aran over others like Mario, thanks to her being a bounty hunter, which fits with the seasonal theme in Fortnite, as well as using weapons to shoot at enemies.

Fortnite is free-to-play for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
