With Fortnite Season 6 in full effect, there's no doubt that plenty of players around the world are going to be diving into the free-to-play Battle Royale portion of the title for the foreseeable future in order to experience all of the fresh wares Epic has brought to the game. Of course, that doesn't mean the studio doesn't have even more plans for the game, as a recent datamine has potentially uncovered that a new item is on the way called a Freeze Trap.

As seen in the tweet below, Fortnite Battle Royale's game files classify the Freeze Trap as a rare item that affects any enemy who happens to be on the trap when its triggered, as it deals out a small amount of damage and slows players down. There's no telling exactly how many damage points the item will deal out to opponents, but its description does indicate that the Freeze Trap can be placed on practically any flat surface.

For those unaware, the Freeze Trap can already be used in Fortnite's Save The World mode, but it will be the first time the item features in Battle Royale should Epic decide to include the object in the free-to-play portion. Naturally, since Epic Games has yet to confirm the Freeze Trap's inclusion in Fortnite Battle Royale, we will have to wait and see when or if it ever gets implemented during Season 6.

All things considered, the Freeze Trap would definitely shake up Fortnite Battle Royale's meta, as it would add an additional wrinkle of strategy that could make or break an entire match if used correctly. Until its possible arrival, though, players at least have a slew of other items on-hand to help them secure a Victory Royale, as Epic recently brought back Shadow Stones after temporarily disabling them.

Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. An Android beta is currently underway.
