Online battle royale title Fortnite has previously added a number of popular video game characters as in-game skins that players can earn, purchase, and equip. Some characters even receive tie-in weapons and vehicles based on iconic items from their games. Fans of Fortnite are always eagerly awaiting possible news and rumors about which characters might be added to the game next. Now, one rumor indicates the potential leak of a character from the latest installment in a popular series.

Fortnite recently launched the third chapter of its second season, highlighting "Resistance" as its overall theme. So far, several new skins and characters have been announced, primarily via the game's Battle Pass subscription service. Characters being added to Fortnite in Season 2 Chapter 3 include new Marvel crossovers such as Prowler and Dr. Strange, the latter of whom is debuting in the game as a tie-in with the upcoming film Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, these Marvel heroes and villains may not be the only additions to Fortnite in the near future.

Twitter user Shiina, a regular source of rumors and leaks related to Fortnite, has reported that, according to an unnamed but supposedly credible leaker, Eivor will be one of the next characters appearing in the battle royale game. Eivor is the playable character of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the latest title in Ubisoft's ongoing stealth-action series Assassin's Creed. Eivor is not the only Assassin's Creed character rumored to be coming to the game, as a previous leak indicated that an outfit based on Ezio Auditore, the protagonist of Assassin's Creed 2 and its sequels, will also be appearing.

The leak did not reveal when Eivor would be debuting, whether players would be getting vehicles or weapons themed after Assassin's Creed, or even which version of Eivor's customizable gender will appear in the game. Shiina's Tweet only mentioned the female version of Eivor, including specifically using the surname Varinsdottir, so it is possible that the male Eivor will not be making an appearance. Regardless, characters from the Assassin's Creed franchise make an excellent choice for the theme of "Resistance," with Eivor, in particular, standing against gods themselves in the recently released Dawn of Ragnarok downloadable content.

Unfortunately, the Tweet referencing the Eivor rumor did not include any leaked information about when building will return to Fortnite. Building, a game mechanic which has been present since Fortnite first launched in 2017, was removed earlier in the season in order to allow players to focus on mastering newly implemented movement mechanics such as sprinting and mantling. However, while the leak did not mention building, other rumors have indicated that a building-free optional mode may be permanently implemented into the game.

Fortnite is currently available for Android, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
