Fortnite has just released a short but impressive trailer for its latest new skin. Players will now be able to charge into the island as God of War's Kratos, the next featured skin arriving in Fortnite's Chapter 2, Season 5.

Launching only a few days ago, Season 5 of Epic Games' popular battle royale is certainly generating plenty of buzz. Players are already facing off with the new The Mandalorian Mythic Boss, and now the God of War is crossing over into the fight against the Loop.

The trailer begins with one of Fortnite's new original hunters, Mancake. The breakfast item fearfully treads through what looks like Weeping Woods, unaffected by Fortnite's Season 5's map changes. It's a full moon, and ominous music builds a sense of tension. Suddenly, what appears to be a werewolf charges toward the sentient flapjacks. Mancake shakily raises his revolvers, but a certain bearded, axe-wielding warrior leaps up and over to eliminate the werewolf before he gets a shot off.

The next shot gives players a close-up on the PlayStation protagonist, who comes complete with Mimir and the Leviathan Axe. The remainder of the trailer then sees Kratos turn around to give Mancake a kind of snarl. This scares him enough to drop his guns, and high-tail it in the opposite direction.

Fortnite players can get the Kratos skin either by itself or as part of the Kratos Bundle, which comes with the full Oathbreaker Set. This set includes the Guardian Shield Glider, Leviathan Axe Pickaxe, and Mimir Back Bling. There's also a custom Kratos emote, called Freezing Burst, as part of the set. It should be noted that the Freezing Burst emote is the first-ever built-in pickaxe emote in Fortnite. Players are also able to unlock an Armored Kratos variant, a celebration of the character's PlayStation legacy. However, it does come with one huge catch. Players will have to complete a round on a PS5. Given the PlayStation CEO's latest comments about absolutely every PS5 being sold, Armored Kratos looks to be quite the rare skin, at least for now.

The new elements and characters being brought into the Fortnite meta should satisfy players who feel the game has gotten boring. The ambivalence of pulling characters from different realities really opens the door for any character to appear in the game. Players can expect just about anyone to appear, and a recent leak indicates that Epic Games is just getting started. A dataminer is saying Master Chief and several iconic Halo weapons are coming to the game. Things are about to get even more interesting.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
