Fortnite Season 6 is almost over, and with Season 7 looming on the horizon, Epic has begun teasing players with something astronomical. Posters, audio spectrograms, and foreshadowing voice lines all seem to point in the same direction: Fortnite is going to invaded by aliens and they may be bringing some of planet Earth's weirdest animals with them when they arrive.

In one recent set of voice lines gathered from the five CB Radios as part of the Fortnite Foreshadow Quest, Mari and Tucker appear to be discussing animals strange enough to be aliens. Mari states that the ocean is strange enough to be an intergalactic alien rest stop, while Tucker says just one word: kangaroos. As of writing, it's difficult to say whether he's meant to be speaking from experience or simply commenting on how odd an animal the kangaroo is. Either way, one of the audio spectrograms from the Season 7 teaser phone numbers showed a kangaroo, which suggests that the animal Mari describes as "nature's frat boy" may soon be arriving in Fortnite.

Alongside the voice lines, there are plenty of other hints that an alien invasion is fast approaching, including ominous Fortnite postcards sent out to gamers seemingly at random. Not everyone who received the postcards has played Fortnite recently--or at all, in the case of some ResetEra users who don't even have Epic Games accounts--raising questions about how the Fortnite team got their mailing addresses. On the other side, many dedicated Fortnite players have expressed irritation that they did not receive postcards. The items in question show bright green shapes on black backgrounds, marked by two simple words: "they're coming."

"They're coming" has quickly become the hashtag used to collect evidence in the build-up to Season 7. Twitter accounts dedicated to archiving Fortnite's teasers have used it to mark posters, other audio spectrograms, and a final warning from Mari that players should be careful and watch the stars. As of writing, players appear to have gathered all the phone numbers associated with the Season 7 ad campaign, which suggests that Season 7's release isn't too far off. In the meantime, Fortnite players can occupy themselves with investigating the downed black helicopter and other Foreshadowing Quests while waiting to see how kangaroos factor into an alien invasion.

Fortnite has also begun teasing its next collaboration, which appears to be a crossover with Brian Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy. These books are currently being pitched for a film adaptation. Appearing in Fortnite could be a form of advertising for an upcoming movie. It's uncertain whether or not kangaroos will appear in the Mistborn film.

Fortnite is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
