It appears that video games have gained so much popularity that games are now becoming a platform that politicians use as a campaign tool to reach a wider audience. In a surprising turn of events, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, and his running mate Kamala Harris, appears to have turned to Fortnite to reach this exact goal.
With only a few more weeks before election day, the Biden/Harris Campaign launched its own custom island in Fortnite called "Build Back Better with Biden." The custom map aims to educate young voters on everything the Democratic Party stands for and players visiting the island will be taken on a short 30-minute adventure through the fictional "Reboot City." Players will be given various tasks throughout their stay on Joe Biden's Fortnite island and can complete six mini-quests that includes things like cranking 90s, collecting Kamala's sneakers, and checking out Joe's ice cream shop.
Players interested to see what the island has to offer can visit it on Fortnite by using the code 0215-4511-1823. Although the main focus of the island is Joe Biden's campaign, players will also find non-election related content. For starters, the map is just filled with references to Biden's love for ice cream and aviator sunglasses. The democratic presidential candidate's famous catchphrase, "No Malarkey" is also plastered all over the island. Overall, the design of Joe Biden's island is really impressive, but there are moments when some things don't work the way they are supposed to.
Of course, it is important to remember that Fortnite is not the first game Joe Biden's campaign used to reach a younger audience. Several weeks ago, reports revealed that Joe Biden also has his own island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and similar to the one found in Fortnite, it is filled with all sorts of election-related content. For those interested, players can visit the Biden HQ in Animal Crossing: New Horizons via the Dreams feature and entering the code: DA-7286-5710-7478.
One interesting feature that players will immediately notice upon reaching The Biden HQ is the polling center that has been carefully designed to contain several polling booths. The area also features a huge promotional sign for the IWillVote.com website, providing players a voting plan checklist. Moreover, the player's main residence on Biden's island has been converted into a campaign field office filled with desks, campaign pamphlets, other promotional materials, and a huge Biden-Harris logo that is just too hard to miss.
