Not too long ago, a datamine of game files suggested that Fortnite would be adding jetpacks to the free-to-play Battle Royale portion of the multiplayer sandbox survival title at some point during Week 5 of Season 4, leading many fans to wonder precisely when the item would come to the game during that time frame. Today, Epic Games has finally confirmed the aerially-inclined objects' availability by announcing jetpacks will be added by way of the next content update.

As seen in the tweet below from the official Fortnite Twitter account, Epic Games intends to bring Jetpacks into the title tomorrow on May 22, 2018, at 8:00 AM ET with the v4.2 Content Update, and they should be included without the developer having to take the servers offline. However, it's still unclear as to how exactly the items will be implemented in the title, be it through the main game or in a separate mode altogether.

For those unaware, jetpacks have been a long-awaited item for many Fortnite fans, as Epic Games initially had them set for inclusion during Season 3, but they received an indefinite delay from the studio due to developers having discovered an undisclosed flaw in its design. This was around the beginning of March earlier this year, so it's definitely safe to say that their addition has been a long time coming, especially since Epic has had a solid amount of time to fix the issue.

Bearing everything in mind, it's likely that Epic Games will be bringing jetpacks into the fold by way of a Limited Time Mode, especially since they are scheduled to arrive at the typical weekly update when previous LTMs are cycled out of rotation. After all, Solo Showdown recently ended, so a jetpack-centric mode could offer a fun cool down from the intense competition that took place over the weekend for a slew of V-Bucks.

Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
