Fortnite update 5.10 is all about explosions. The infamous guided missile makes a return to Battle Royale mode, and a new limited-time game mode is now live for fans to check out: Fly Explosives.  This new game mode is all about flying high above the battlefield and raining down explosive mayhem on any who get in the way.

Fortnite’s new game mode restricts loadouts to only explosive weapons, and gives players jetpacks to let them quickly soar across the map with their destructive arsenal. The Fly Explosive jetpacks have increased fuel regen rate and decreased fuel burn rate compared to the standard jetpack. The wait time between storm movement has been decreased for this game mode since players will spend less time looting overall. Rocket ammunition will be capped at 120, and profile stats will still be active for this wacky mode.

Not only did update 5.10 add this new limited time event, it also brought back the guided missile to Battle Royale. The rocket launcher was put into the vault for tuning due to players using it to get easy wins. The guided missile still has the fun functionality of letting players ride on the missile, but it now moves a little slower and deals less damage to both players and structures. While players may not be setting any kill records with this weapon, it will likely still be pretty fun to use.

The creative Playground mode is also back with 5.10. Fans have made some interesting creations during the first iteration of Playground, like Nuketown from Call of Duty. This time around, the Fly Explosives jetpacks will be usable in the limited time mode, as well as the returning guided missile. Healing item spawn rates have been normalized, and bandages have been removed to give players a better chance to get items that completely restore health and shields.

Fortnite’s 5.10 update is certainly an interesting one, as Epic Games continues to deliver interesting and unique game modes for players to enjoy. While these events are only for a limited time, perhaps they will come back in the future like Playground did.

Fortnite is available now on iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
