Following the release of patch 8.01, two instant death spots have recently been found on Fortnite's map. Epic Games is looking into the issue, and in the meantime has provided a warning that states, "Beware the Fork Knife!"

Insta-death location number one is located next to one of Fortnite's latest map changes. Just a week ago, Epic Games added a landmark in an open field between Fatal Fields and Salty Springs where two holes were dug into the ground in the shapes of a fork and a knife. It's a bit of a joke based on one of Fortnite's nicknames, "Fork-Knife". At first, players thought the insta-death spot was a cruel gag from Epic, but the company has since confirmed it's a bug and that it's being looked into.

A second insta-death spot has since been discovered by the Fortnite community, and it's located just outside of The Block. Alongside The Block's outer wall, within a short cleft in the ground, another spot will kill the player if they crouch. Epic has also noted this location and is working on a fix.

Epic Games has been quick to comment on both of the initial Reddit threads that revealed each insta-death location. After the Fork Knife spot was revealed, Epic even posted a warning to Reddit telling players to avoid the location. In each post, Epic also confirmed that it was working on a fix for the issue. While no fix has yet gone live, the bugs were only discovered a day ago. It's just a matter of time before they're fixed.

Some are attributing the issue to some sort of tech preventing players from dropping below the map. In the case of both the Fork Knife and The Block dip, the insta-death spot is in a hole of sorts.

Perhaps these specific spots drop a bit too low, so Fortnite thinks they may have dropped below the map and kills them instead. It's a cruel fate, but it's better than players floating below the map and potentially winning a match because no one can shoot them.

Fortnite is available in early access on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
